CEA Launches Online Community and International Blog to Enhance Study Abroad Experience
Tempe, AZ (PRWEB) January 31, 2008 -- CEA, the leading global marketplace for quality study abroad programs for university and college students in the U.S. and Canada, today announced the expansion of its online community. Comprised of an International Study Abroad Blog (http://studyabroadcea.blogspot.com/) and an online study abroad social network (http://studyabroadcea.ning.com/), CEA has created a web-based resource designed to answer students' questions about study abroad (http://www.gowithcea.com/) and serve as a forum in which students can share their study abroad experiences.
"Emerging technologies, such as social networks and blogs, are changing the face of study abroad and are altering the ways in which we communicate with students," says Colleen Miller, CEA director of marketing. "In this day and age, students live online, and to be able to interact individually and instantly with program participants in their preferred medium is critical."
The International Study Abroad Blog feature of the CEA online community provides information both for prospective study abroad students and those already committed to studying overseas. Features of the international blog include:
? Links to important CEA websites and news headlines. ? Detailed Program Information on CEA's offerings searchable by destination or by discipline. ? Informative Original Content streamed through live podcasts or posted by study abroad advisors and students alike pertaining to all aspects of international education. CEA's Study Abroad Community is a social networking site built specifically for CEA's prospective and current students. Students can create a profile, and have access to the following resources: ? One-on-One Forum where students can ask general questions about study abroad programs. ? Group Forum that encourages students to converse with others who are interested in studying in a student's destination of choice. ? Online Tutorials that focus on topics important to students, such as how to secure financial aid or scholarships to study abroad.
Along with developing the Study Abroad Community, CEA has also established a presence on the popular Internet social networking site, Facebook.com. These pages allow study abroad advisors (http://www.gowithcea.com/advisors/school_services.html) to regularly correspond with prospective students via instant and text messaging, and also provide a safe arena for CEA program participants to meet one another and view program-specific itineraries.
"Implementation of these web-based initiatives will benefit CEA and our students two-fold," says Miller. "Not only do these mediums allow us to better serve our program participants by accurately gauging their needs, but our students can rest assured knowing they have a simple, direct means of communication to get instant answers to their questions and concerns about their upcoming study abroad experience."
About CEA The nation's premiere study abroad organization, CEA offers an unparalleled suite of global education opportunities for colleges, universities and high schools in the United States and Canada. Founded in 1996, CEA has forged partnerships with international universities in 14 countries to offer study abroad in Spain, Italy, China, France, Germany and England, among many other study abroad destinations (http://www.gowithcea.com/programs/destinations.html).
