The Diabetes Challenge: Blogging Away Diabetes

New York, NY (PRWEB) June 30, 2008 -- This week the Lifestyle Center of America is proud to launch "The Diabetes Challenge" (www.diabetesmiracle.org). This real world experiment will use social media to provide a patient's-eye-view into LCA's diet- and lifestyle-based approach to curbing the effects of diabetes.

As reported by the New York Times (June 25, 2008), a recent Centers for Disease Control and Prevention report shows that "the number of Americans with diabetes increased by 15 percent in two years to 24 million." According to the agency, "about 8 percent of the population now has the disease, mainly Type 2 diabetes, which is linked to obesity and sedentary living."

The program detailed in The 30-Day Diabetes Miracle book and cookbook is often unfairly marginalized by a culture dominated by pharmaceutical lobbyists. But clearly, popular methods of treatment and prevention are not working.

Now, two leading diabetes specialists with over 25 years of experience are taking matters into their own hands. Dr. Stuart Seale and Dr. Franklin House of the Lifestyle Center of America are offering The Diabetes Challenge--a contest allowing one diabetic the opportunity to go through an all-expenses-paid, year-long treatment plan, focusing on the root causes of the disease through lifestyle changes and cognitive behavior therapy.

The winning applicant will travel to one of Lifestyle Center of America's two campuses in Oklahoma or Arizona this fall. The program begins with a 12-day residential stay followed by continued health coaching with Lifestyle Center professionals. The winner will also receive a digital video camera, which will be used to chronicle each step of the journey via an uncensored video blog on the DiabetesMiracle.org (www.diabetesmiracle.org) website.
